Dr. Robbin Chapman:
· Engages in research that focuses on the intersection of learning by design, new technologies, community, and support structures for learning. · Develops learning technologies and pedagogy that deepen the ways that people learn. She is particularly interested in supporting deep learning activities, including meta-learning, critical reflection and thinking, debugging, and learning by design. · Invents new learning frameworks Her Cooperative Constructionism framework uses theory and practical applications of individual and group cognition and critical reflection to support design-based learning activities. Dr. Chapman’s work has been presented at conferences, invited talks, and in two book chapters.
Her new book, The Computer Clubhouse: Creativity and Constructionism in Youth Communities, is co-edited by herself, Yasmin Kafai and Kylie Peppler. Published by Teachers College Press, the book is scheduled for release in spring 2009, |
